This has been my brother's favorite Mexican restaurant for 20 years. They have a ton of selections to choose from. The shrimp enchiladas were excellent and you can tell when places use the "good shrimp" or the cheap stuff. This was the good stuff. You can cap off your meal with fried ice cream. All in all, it didn't disappoint.

I love Tio Leo's! This is me and my family's fave Mexican restaurant. I always order their combo meal: cheese enchilada, carne asada taco with rice and beans. Hella fire. Their chips are nice, light, crunchy with the perfect amount of salt. The ambiance is calm, quiet, relaxing and the lights are always dim but I absolutely love it. It is never really packed here but the bar can get pretty busy when there's a band playing. They always have some good old school funk or jazz band playing at night and on the weekends. I would definitely recommend!

Came last night to see the Red Elvises play with some friends, in the outdoor concert yard. Thought about the last time I was here, which was probably to see Indigo Swing in the swing boom of the late 90s. Yeah, 25 years ago. And not much has changed. Obviously the outdoor concert space is new, undoubtedly prompted by the pandemic. It was a fun way to see a show, but not as comfortable to see a show at picnic tables, as compared to the big booths in the bar. And the asphalt wasn't as easy for the dancers as the wooden dance floor. I ordered dinner, which was always a plus for coming to shows here. Food is still really good. I ordered the carnitas plate, and was happy that wheat tortillas were a choice. I made 3 big soft tacos, and still had meat and rice to take home. The best part was that I could get one of my favorites, fried ice cream. It didn't have the buñuelo under it or extra chocolate sauce, but it was delicious, old school cornflake-covered vanilla ice cream the size of a softball, lol. Our server Michel was really sweet, and was working her butt off keeping track of the orders. Definitely a fun place to see a show, especially if you like Mexican food!

We had a blast at this restaurant/bar. We came to enjoy the live 80's band, the weather was perfect so they played outside. Definitely get there early so you can get a seat outside to listen to bands, otherwise you can sit inside the bar area. Drinks were good, we shared a big nacho plate- delicious. Service was basic. We paid $15 cash for the cover charge. We didn't see the other side of the restaurant. Overall it was a good crowd of people, we will return for another band.

One of my favorite restaurants for Mexican food. They always provide great customer service; the food comes out hot and fast. I have been coming here for years and will continue so for the tasty chips and salsa, Taco Basket, Chicken Flauta, Margaritas and more. 2024(10)

I got to come here with a group of my family. They were very accommodating for a large group which was great. I absolutely love their chips and salsa! Our waitress kept us well stocked with both the fresh tortilla chips and salsa. I could eat those all day long. I got the carne asada fries, which are an appetizer as I wasn't too hungry (because of those chips!). Even as an appetizer, my portion was smaller than I thought they'd come out. But it did end up being a good portion for me. I enjoyed my fries, but there was something in the flavor I couldn't put my finger on. Though I enjoyed them, I don't think I would order them again. My husband got a carne asada quesadilla, and he loved it! Ate every bite. Overall it was pretty nice. I'd love to come back and try one of their entrees for myself.

Went to see live music in the bar. We sat at a high top on the side of the dance floor. Stools were impossible. But moved one from the bar and they were better. Complimentary unlimited salsa and chips. It was good chips and salsa I got a ground beef taco and rice. Taco had 2 napkins of grease out of it. Tasted ok. But a little bland due to the fat. Friend got a tostada. It was large and good. Other friend got a cheese quesadilla. Was a little like a kids quesadilla. Margaritas are a skip. The traditional and mango had a weird after taste. Strawberry tasted like fruit punch. None had very much alcohol in it. We stayed for the live music and there was a $15 cover. Band was good. Service was slow but friendly. Would go again for music not sure about drink and foods.

Yo, dudes and dudettes! Listen up, Captain 619 here, riding the foodie wave! So, we've been shredding at the Mission George spot for a solid four decades, making it our go-to spot ever since Anne-Marie closed her joint. But hey, no worries, bros, we've made the move to Frank's place now. We cruised in on a chill Saturday afternoon, right around 3pm, and the joint wasn't too packed, you feel me? The waiter, though, not gonna lie, he was kinda slacking, not giving us the stoke we needed. But hey, the grub, man, it was standing tall, like a wave about to break! My queen, she went all-in with a bean and cheese burrito, but get this, they had enchilada sauce on the outside, plus extra cheese, bro! As for me, I stuck to my guns and ordered the crispy cheese quesadilla, a classic I've been chowing down on for a gnarly 40 years, even back in the now-closed spot. And let me tell you, it was just as rad, if not better, dude! We'll definitely paddle back to Frank's place, hoping for a better service wave next time. Catch you on the flip side! Chips and salsa were always a staple for our family, so this is definitely the place where it happens.

This was my first visit to the Tio Leo's branch in Linda Vista. I usually dine at the Mission Gorge branch (the original) but it is closing permanently on December 31, 2023. The Linda Vista branch is located at a rather ackward corner between two intersecting streets, so use caution when entering and exiting the parking lot. The interior of the restaurant is quite large, and it extends into multiple rooms. There is also a large and dark bar on the left when you enter, with a big stage for bands encircled by semi-circular booths. You can dine in that room, but if you stay beyond 7:00 pm on a night when a band plays, a cover charge of about $15.00 per person will be added to your dining bill. On the night of my visit, I sat in the main dining room. My server was named Wyatt, and he was very efficient and pleasant. I ordered the chicken-rice bowl, with Pollo Asado, avocado and black beans. I like to request cilantro be placed on top to add some color and flavor. After dinner, I recommend ordering a Mexican Coffee, which consists of Coffee, Kahlua, Tequila and whipped cream on top, served in a clear glass container.
